Detail Report – Privacy Policy
Detail Report is an inspection and defect report app for iPhone and iPad, made by Auslintel Pty Ltd (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what happens to your information when you use it.
In short: we don’t collect your personal information. Your reports, photos and everything you enter stay on your device. There are no accounts, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking.
1. What stays on your device
Everything you create in the app is stored in the app on your own device. That includes reports, photos, videos, mark-ups, measurements and depth readings, 3D scans, 360° photos, scanned documents, signatures, attached files, and the company, inspector, client and other contact details you enter.
The app also keeps an editable copy of each report (a “.detailreport” file) and your own files in the app’s folder in the Files app on your device (On My iPhone or On My iPad → Detail Report). These copies stay on your device.
We don’t receive a copy of any of this and can’t see it. Like other app data, it is included in your device backups (for example iCloud Backup) according to your own device settings. The report copies in the Files app are left out of the backup because the reports themselves are already backed up.
2. Permissions the app asks for
- Camera – to take photos, videos, 3D scans, 360° photos and document scans for your reports.
- Microphone – to record sound with site videos.
- Location (only while you’re using the app) – to print the date, time and site address on photos and to look up the site weather. The app never uses your location in the background, and your location is not sent to us. You can turn off the address on photos in the app’s Settings.
- Photos (add only) – to save photos to your Photos library when you ask. When the address stamp is on, a saved photo keeps the place where it was taken, so it shows on the Photos map. The app can’t see or read the rest of your library.
- LiDAR and motion sensors – for measuring, depth readings, 3D scans and 360° photos. This is all worked out on your device.
You can change these permissions at any time in your device’s Settings.
3. Things you choose to give the app
These don’t need a permission, because you pick exactly what the app receives:
- Photos from your library – chosen with Apple’s photo picker. The app receives only the photos you pick.
- Contacts – chosen with Apple’s contact picker. The app receives only the contact you pick, for example a client or building manager for the cover page. It has no access to the rest of your address book.
- Pasted or dragged-in photos – the app reads the clipboard only when you tap Paste (your device may ask you to allow it), and receives only the photos you drag into it.
- Files – PDFs and other files you import, attach or put in the app’s folder in the Files app.
4. When information leaves your device
Information leaves your device only in these cases:
Address lookup (Apple Maps)
To turn your location into a street address for the photo stamp, or to find a site address you typed, the app uses Apple’s MapKit service. The location or address is sent to Apple and handled under Apple’s Privacy Policy.
Site weather (Apple Weather)
When you add site weather to a report, the app asks Apple’s weather service (WeatherKit) for the weather at the site’s location, and downloads the Apple Weather logo shown with it. No name, account details or report content is sent. Apple states that WeatherKit uses the location only to provide the weather, does not associate it with any personally identifiable information, and doesn’t track it between requests. See Apple’s Privacy Policy.
When you share a report
Reports and files you export (PDF, Word, Excel, web report or an editable report copy) go wherever you send them, for example email, messages or AirDrop. Those services handle them under their own terms. Reports can contain the names, phone numbers and email addresses you entered, so please share them only with people who should see them.
Wi-Fi File Transfer
When you open Wi-Fi File Transfer, the app lets a computer on the same Wi-Fi network see, download and upload your files and report files through its web browser, after that computer enters the 4-digit code shown on your device. The files go directly between your device and that computer over your local network – not through the internet or through us. It stops as soon as you leave the Wi-Fi File Transfer screen. Use it only on a network you trust.
Your cloud folder
If you choose a cloud folder in Settings, your reports are saved into it and uploaded by that provider (for example iCloud Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox or Google Drive) under its own terms.
The “Powered by Detail Report” QR code
Reports include a small QR code that links to our website. Anyone who opens it makes an ordinary visit to our website. You can turn the badge off in the app’s Settings.
5. What we don’t do
- No account or sign-in.
- No advertising.
- No analytics, crash-reporting or tracking tools in the app.
- No tracking across other apps or websites.
- We don’t sell, rent or share your information.
6. Apple
Apple runs the App Store and handles downloads and payments under its own privacy policy. If you have turned on Share With App Developers in your device’s Analytics settings, Apple may share crash reports and usage statistics with us. These don’t identify you personally, and we use them only to fix problems in the app.
7. Your control over your data
You can delete reports inside the app at any time. Deleting the app removes all of its data from your device, including its folder in the Files app. Copies you have shared, saved to a cloud folder or kept in backups are not affected.
Because we don’t hold personal information about you, there is nothing for us to access, correct or delete on our side. You are still welcome to contact us with any question.
8. Children
Detail Report is made for building and inspection professionals. It is not directed at children, and we don’t knowingly collect information from anyone.
9. Changes to this policy
If the way the app handles information changes, we will update this page and its effective date before the change takes effect.
